I decided to write this post because many patients come to us with this issue.
It’s especially common in summer, when skin is exposed to harsh sunlight and indoor air is dried out by air conditioning in homes and cars.

It’s important to note that both dry and oily skin can become dehydrated. Even if your skin produces excess oil, you may still feel tightness or notice flaking.

The most common mistake is trying to combat oiliness with drying products: toners or lotions containing alcohol, harsh cleansers, and scrubs. These can actually damage the skin, making inflammation worse.

On the other hand, some try to avoid flaking by using heavy, rich creams or oily products. This is not recommended, as oily products can clog pores and trigger breakouts.

✅ The best approach is to use lightweight, water-based creams and serums, including in your foundation.
✅ Consider professional treatments that improve skin nutrition and stimulate circulation, and increase your intake of pure water.
✅ An excellent solution for dehydrated skin is a course of mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid cocktails, biorevitalization, and PRP therapy.

✅ At home, cleanse your face twice daily with a gentle cleanser suited to your skin type, ideally with an acidic pH to support your skin’s protective barrier. Always tone your skin after cleansing and before applying serum or cream, using special toners that remove cleanser residue and chlorine from tap water, which can dry out your skin.

It’s also helpful to use hydrating masks 1-2 times a week, and to apply moisturizing serums and creams daily after cleansing and toning.

And of course, drink 1.5-2 liters of pure, still water every day, provided your kidneys are healthy.
