Hello everyone!
⠀
Today I want to talk about a very common question: when can you cover up old permanent makeup on your brows, and when is removal the only solution?
So, you can cover old PMU if the remaining pigment is light, not too dense, and a natural color—meaning not bright red, orange, blue, green, purple, etc. If the old shade is something that would still look harmonious on your face even if it shows through a new layer (like gray, brown, or light yellow), then covering is possible.
⠀
However, if the old PMU is dense, sharply defined, or an unnatural color from the list above, it absolutely needs to be removed with a laser first. No matter how skilled the artist, it’s simply impossible to create a beautiful result from such a base.
⠀
Let me explain a bit about the correction process.
For example, to neutralize blue brows, you need to use an orange corrector; for red brows, a green corrector; and for purple brows, a yellow corrector. Now imagine this multi-layered “sandwich” of colors that aren’t really suitable for the face. What will the pigment look like in a year or two? I can tell you—it will turn into a muddy, grayish-pinkish shade that you definitely won’t want on your face.
⠀
That’s why I recommend being patient and choosing the most effective approach: removal.
⠀
I also recommend laser removal if your brows are a decent color but the pigment is too dense. Adding more PMU on top will only make them look unnatural and drawn-on. In this case, removal is also the best option.
⠀
I hope I’ve explained this complex topic as simply and clearly as possible.
