Dear friends!
Today I want to address a delicate but very important topic.
Scars after mammoplasty and other breast surgeries.
A huge number of women undergo surgery either out of necessity due to medical conditions or because of psychological discomfort related to lack of volume, changes in shape, and so on.
Finally, the breasts have achieved the desired shape or restored health, but a new psychological challenge may arise—the visible consequences of surgery: scars.
For various reasons, scars can form as normotrophic (when scar tissue gradually flattens and eventually blends with the surrounding skin) or as pathological, such as hypo- or hypertrophic scars (when the scar tissue sits below or above the surrounding skin, respectively).
Today, there are many methods to treat pathological scars, ranging from chemical peels and topical therapies to advanced laser technologies. These dermatological and cosmetic approaches are mainly aimed at improving the scar’s structure—softening and smoothing it, since scar tissue is denser and less elastic than healthy skin.
However, even after such treatments, or in the case of normotrophic scars, the issue often remains as a depigmented area (a light strip of skin). This is where only permanent makeup specialists can offer a solution.
With camouflage techniques, it’s possible to blend the scar to match the color of the areola or the surrounding skin.
As a result, the consequences of surgery can be minimized so effectively that sometimes even I can’t remember how it looked “before.”
