Hello, my dears!
Almost every day I receive the same questions from you about permanent makeup.
That’s why I decided to dedicate a post to this topic—and maybe even more than one!
⠀
So, today I’m sharing the top 10 questions about preparing for and caring after permanent makeup for brows and eyelids!

Julia Sundulova
? Can I get my brows and eyes wet?
☑ On the day of the procedure, avoid getting them wet. Starting the next day, once the micro-punctures have formed a protective film (the scab), you can gently get them wet, but please, no overdoing it! It’s fine if a little water touches your brows or eyelids while washing your face, but avoid pools, steam rooms, and saunas completely! No soaking in hot baths!
⠀
? How should I care for my brows on the day of the procedure?
☑ On the day of the procedure, gently dab your brows with a cotton pad moistened with chlorhexidine. At night, apply Bepanthen+ cream and blot any excess.
⠀
? How do I care for them in the following days?
☑ From the next day after the procedure, you don’t need to wipe or apply anything! If you feel tightness or excessive dryness, you may apply a thin layer of Bepanthen+ cream.
⠀
? When can I exercise again?
☑ Avoid intense workouts until all scabs have fully peeled off.
⠀
? When can I sunbathe?
☑ Wait at least one month after the procedure before sunbathing. I recently wrote a whole post about this!
⠀
? Can I wear makeup?
☑ Do not apply decorative cosmetics until the scabs have peeled off. You can use makeup around the area, but not directly on the permanent makeup. Do not use mascara. Remove makeup carefully, avoiding the treated area.
⠀
? Can I drink coffee before and after the procedure?
☑ Do not drink coffee or other energy drinks before the procedure, as they dilate blood vessels and increase blood pressure, which can lead to more lymph and even blood during the procedure, making pigment implantation more difficult.
There are no restrictions immediately after the procedure.
⠀
? Can I drink alcohol on the day of the procedure?
☑ It’s best to avoid alcohol for 24 hours before the procedure. A glass of wine the night before is fine. There are no restrictions after the procedure.
?When can I get eyelash extensions?
☑ If you have eyelash extensions, they need to be removed before permanent makeup on the eyelids. You can get new extensions after all scabs have peeled off, usually 7–10 days after the procedure.
?How long will swelling last?
☑ Visible swelling on the brows usually subsides within an hour after the procedure, but on the eyelids it can last up to 3 days. Swelling may increase the morning after the procedure, so you may take an antihistamine at night if needed.
If you have any more questions, I’ll be happy to answer! Feel free to ask!
